Our compostable cups are compatible with all Keurig® brewers. They naturally disintegrate and return to the ground through microbes and biological factors using BPI® certified technology. When composted, these cups create healthy soil.

Petroleum-based plastics aren’t biodegradable — traditional cups for Keurig® cannot be composted. Thanks to the inventions of green chemistry, compostable cups leave minimal environmental impact.

How Our Process Works

Choose Joe’s Garage Coffee when you’d like to work with a sustainable partner. Our cups for Keurig® are BPI® certified compostable and engineered to have a minimal impact on the planet. As our environmentally friendly cups naturally decompose, they return healthy nutrients to the soil.

Here’s a look at our process for roasting and packaging your coffee in Keurig®-compatible compostable cups.

1. Choose Your Coffee Service

We can make the coffee for you or just do the packaging, depending on your preference. With roast-to-order, we use our beans to create the blend you want. We can start with one of our existing blends or create unique combinations with competitor benchmarking or your ideas.

If you have roasted coffee beans, we can find the perfect way to make their flavor shine in compostable Keurig® cups with our co-packing services. Our team works hard to document and preserve the flavor in the new brewing format. Besides roasted beans, we can work with your green beans. Our detailed toll-roasting services deliver the desired roast profile while taking the work off your hands.

2. Let Us Create In-House Samples

Once you select your coffee bean service level (use our beans our yours) and provide your coffee specifications like desired taste, brew, and roast profile, we’ll start working on creating samples of your coffee for your team to try and approve for manufacturing – whether you choose to use our coffee beans and have us match your coffee to your exact specifications, or we use your coffee, you’ll be involved in dialing the taste of your coffee through our sampling process. We follow cupping guidelines from the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) for consistent cupping protocols. Based on our sampling process, we’ll recommend any necessary changes to adapt the taste, extraction, and quality according to your preferences.

3. Give Feedback on Coffee Samples

The cups we make are ultimately your product. We give you the chance to share your input, and we’ll send samples in compostable cups, letting your team try them and make any necessary tweaks before the product hits the shelves. The product reflects your brand, so we want to ensure you’re proud to promote it. For established customers, we welcome you to cup with us in person to dial in your coffee face-to-face – please contact one of our Private Label Coffee Experts to request an in-person cupping of your coffee product while it is in development.

4. Work With Us for Design

Once you have a coffee product you love, make it stand out to customers with brand-aligned, custom-printed packaging. We can design cartons and bulk packaging as needed. Our team also designs cup lids. We make each one reflect your brand. People who grab a cup to brew will see this branding, making them more likely to choose you the next time they want coffee. Work with our team on seamless design integration – as an established brand you have existing creative and brand requirements that we can easily meet. Work with our team to integrate your existing brand assets into packaging formats that are ready for retail.

FAQs About Compostable Cups for Keurig®

Considering compostable cups for Keurig® for your coffee business? Here are the answers to our clients’ most frequently asked questions.

Are Your Compostable Cups for Keurig® BPI-Certified?

Yes, our compostable cups for Keurig® are BPI-certified. The BPI is the leading third-party verifier of compostability claims in North America — this certification ensures our private label products meet rigorous scientific standards. The BPI logo provides both composters and your customers with recognized assurance, enhancing your brand’s credibility and commitment to sustainability.

Do Your Compostable Coffee Pods Require Industrial Composting?

Yes, our compostable coffee pods do require industrial or commercial composting facilities. They are not suitable for backyard bins, as proper breakdown demands the higher temperatures found in commercial settings. You can utilize resources like findacomposter.com to help locate appropriate facilities. We recommend clear educational messaging on the packaging of your compostable cups for Keurig® to guide your customers effectively.

How Do Compostable Cups Affect My Coffee’s Shelf Life and Brew Quality?

Your coffee’s shelf life and brew quality are fully protected in our compostable cups. Advanced plant-based materials create a strong oxygen barrier, preserving your product’s freshness, aroma, and flavor from roasting through brewing. Our Keurig®-compatible cups’ filter and design ensure a perfect pour, guaranteeing a superior brew quality for your single-serve product.

Do Compostable Cups Affect the MOQ or Lead Time of Custom Orders?

The MOQs and lead times are comparable to standard options for our compostable custom cups for Keurig®. In general, we offer low MOQs to support market tests through to large-scale rollouts. With us, production upgrades are easy. As a high-volume manufacturer, our 50,000-square-foot facility is optimized for producing compostable cups at scale. Our clients also benefit from significantly shorter lead times, with orders shipping within a matter of weeks.

What Labeling and Claims Are Allowed on My Compostable Coffee Cup's Packaging?

You’re allowed to use the BPI-Certified Compostable logo on your packaging. Claims require specific languages, such as clarifying that the product is only commercially compostable and that facilities may not be available in all areas. Our team expertly guides you through all artwork and labeling requirements. This ensures your private label cups for Keurig® packaging is fully compliant, preventing costly revisions before printing.

Can You Send Me Samples of Compostable Cups for Testing?

Yes, we’ll send you samples of compostable cups for pre-production testing. Whether you use our beans or yours, our sampling process allows your team to rigorously evaluate the coffee and pod format. This ensures the final product meets your precise quality standards, validating desired taste, brew, and roast profiles before committing to production.
